Activities

ImageSpeakers, musicians, resident-experts, authors and local celebrities all contribute to the wide array of activities happening every single day at The Evergreens.

On-campus, our regular wine and cheese socials and special theme parties create a fun environment for our residents, staff, family and friends to gather and socialize together.

A variety of speakers, bands, performers and local celebrities are also regular visitors to our campus. Bands like The United States Air Force Liberty Band dazzle residents with rousing musical performances, while experts like food historian Judith Krall Russo, come to share their vast knowledge on a variety of subjects. Local celebrities and VIP’s, like Philadelphia Phillies Chairman and Part-Owner Bill Giles, also frequent our campus – willingly signing autographs and sharing stories with our community.

Some of our residents also take center stage from time to time, entertaining us with their stories of their travel experiences or leading monthly meetings for special interest clubs.

Additionally, resident musicians and music-lovers can be seen participating in our music appreciation class led by local acclaimed musician Jeff Uhlig. While our gardeners delight in getting their hands dirty in our Residents Garden and Greenhouse. For our art-lovers and artists, the annual Dorothy Zaun Collins Art Lecture Series offers a night of art and socializing in honor of late resident and art enthusiast Dorothy Zaun Collins.

But activities for our vibrant residents are not only limited to our campus community.

Residents frequently take advantage of our proximity to Philadelphia and New York City by participating in any one of a number of field trips – which have included such places as the Philadelphia Art Museum, the beautiful Longwood Gardens, the Battleship New Jersey and even Ocean City, NJ for a little “fun-in-the-sun.” For our culinary aficionados, dinner and lunch outings are also very popular – allowing residents to sample some of the best fare while getting the opportunity to socialize with one another away from campus.

So whether it is swimming, walking, reading, exploring, painting or enjoying culinary treats, our active residents share a common passion for enjoying all that life has to offer – no matter what the activity may be.
